Oxford Brookes researchers to host webinar on MMI-funded project into alcohol use

In January 2026, researchers from Oxford Brookes will be hosting a webinar on the results of their alcohol use behaviours and barriers to help seeking in the UK veterinary professions study, which received funding from our Mind Matters Initiative back in January 2025. 

The webinar will be an evidence-based panel discussion about drinking, mental health and seeking support in the veterinary workplace – looking into the factors that influence alcohol use in a veterinary setting and how it can impact mental health. It will also consider effective ways to support reduced drinking and help-seeking behaviours within the professions. 

Panellists include the three researchers leading the project - Dr Jennifer Seddon, Olivia Cormier MRCVS (pictured), and Dr Emma Davies – as well as Dr Kirstie Pickles MRCVS, EDI lead at Harper Keele Veterinary School, and Dr Rosie Allister MRCVS, veterinary mental health researcher and Consultant Helpline Manager at veterinary mental health charity, Vetlife. 

The webinar 'Opening the conversation around alcohol use in a veterinary setting' will take place on Tuesday 13 January from 7.30pm to 8.30pm.
