RCVS Fellowship
The title of RCVS Fellow represents the pinnacle of veterinary achievement, recognising veterinary surgeons who have made outstanding contributions to the profession.
For over 140 years, the RCVS Fellowship has recognised veterinary surgeons who've made outstanding contributions to the profession.
Since 2016, Fellowship has been open through three application routes, making it possible to become a Fellow regardless of your professional background or specialism.
You can apply for Fellowship through one of three routes:
- Meritorious Contributions to Knowledge (MCK) for significant advances in veterinary knowledge
- Meritorious Contributions to Clinical Practice (MCCP) for exceptional clinical achievements
- Meritorious Contributions to the Profession (MCP) for outstanding service to the veterinary profession
Purpose of the RCVS Fellowship
The RCVS Fellowship exists to do more than recognise excellence. Its purpose is to advance veterinary standards by creating a respected body of independent knowledge for the benefit of the whole profession.
Today's RCVS Fellowship is a platform for distinguished veterinary surgeons to share expertise and contribute directly to our profession's ongoing advancement.
The RCVS Fellowship: A thriving learned society
The RCVS Fellowship operates as a learned society, governed by the Fellowship Board, which reports to our Advancement of the Professions Committee. In 2018, the RCVS Council agreed that the Fellowship would focus on three key areas:
- Promoting scientific excellence – advancing veterinary standards by supporting research and innovation
- Enhancing professional skills and practice – sharing best practice and encouraging creative thinking among veterinary surgeons
- Engaging with the public – promoting veterinary science and the profession to stakeholders, government and society
