Dr Amy Hawthorn
Biography
Since graduating from the Royal Veterinary College in 2010, Amy has enjoyed a varied career in equine practice. She started out with a voluntary placement at Animal Care Egypt in Luxor, treating working equids and camelids. This was followed by a hospital internship at Donnington Grove Equine Hospital, Newbury.
Amy then worked as an ambulatory vet in Wiltshire for several years and this is when she developed a particular interest in equine orthopaedics. In 2018, an opportunity arose to work at the Andre Buthe Equine clinic, focusing entirely on lameness and poor performance in the elite sports horse.
Currently, Amy works as a Veterinary Officer for the British Horseracing Authority - a role which combines Amy’s interests in equine athletic performance and horse welfare. In addition, she works as a locum equine ambulatory vet in the Home Counties.
