Dr Andrea Jeffery
Biography
Andrea currently works for an awarding organisation, having stepped down as Chief Nursing Officer for Linnaeus in 2024. Prior to this, Andrea was the programme director for the veterinary nursing BSc (Hons) at Bristol Veterinary School. She is passionate about working to ensure that veterinary nursing is a career for life and understanding the factors which influence those who leave the profession, which was the area of research for her Doctorate that she achieved in 2020. Andrea was an elected member of RCVS VN Council for a number of years and is very proud of what VN Council has achieved since its start in 2002. Andrea has spoken nationally and internationally with Hilary Orpet on the holistic approach to patient care through the Orpet and Jeffery Ability Model. She also has several publications related to this topic along with regulation and professional practice. Andrea received the Bruce Vivash Jones Veterinary Nurse Award in 2015 alongside Hilary Orpet for outstanding contributions to the advancement of small animal veterinary nursing. In 2024 Andrea received the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Golden Jubilee Award for her sustained and distinguished career and leadership role within the profession.
