Dr Robert Scott McRae
Biography
Scott graduated with a BVMS from Glasgow University in 1998, and after a few years in general practice, earned his PhD in 2006 from the same institution. He has been heavily involved in stem cell research in both academic and commercial roles but returned to full time mixed general practice in Aberdeenshire in 2012 acquiring Buchan Veterinary Clinics, which he ran until its acquisition by CVS in 2017. A spell within the corporate world as a clinical director focusing on companion animal practice followed by a return to private practice and then subsequently within SRUC in Aberdeen as a lecturer in Rural Animal Health.
Since January 2025, he has been engaged as a Veterinary Inspector with the UK Home Office. In addition, Scott has been involved for the last few years with the RCVS OSCE's as an examiner and is currently a member of the Examination Committee overseeing the statutory membership exam.
He maintains a strong interest in advanced reproductive techniques in the agricultural domain, particularly in the field of embryo transfer.
He lives in Aberdeenshire with an ever-increasing menagerie of chickens, cats, cockapoos, and wandering peacocks.
