EPA 15: Oral health and dental procedures

Learn how to carry out dental and oral examinations confidently across a range of animal species.

Description

Perform dental and oral examinations and procedures relevant to your role, including routine checks and advice. You’ll identify common dental and oral conditions with thorough dental charting and intraoral radiographs and devise an appropriate treatment plan.

Your assessment will cover various clinical scenarios, from acute to chronic conditions. You'll need to demonstrate competency across different animal species and show you can adapt your examination technique based on individual patient needs and case complexity.

Success criteria

You will have demonstrated expertise and proficiency in identifying oral and dental disease and treatment options. You will have also performed a range of dental procedures across:

  • Animal species
  • Clinical presentations
  • Acute/chronic conditions
  • Case complexities relevant to your role.

You should employ a logical and systematic approach to dental examination, including imaging and knowledge of preventative treatments.
