Register as a Veterinary Nurse (VN) School Ambassador

The VN School Ambassadors scheme encourages young people to join veterinary nursing by introducing them to the rewarding and varied opportunities in our profession.

As a registered veterinary nurse passionate about your career, you can inspire the next generation through school talks, careers fairs, and sharing educational resources. We've partnered with STEM Learning, an established organisation that connects education with real-world careers.

Your role as an ambassador helps shape the future of veterinary nursing. By sharing your expertise and passion, you'll help build awareness of our profession among young people who may never have considered it as a career path.

Through STEM Learning's proven approach, you'll make a real impact by:

• Supporting learning – connecting classroom theory to real-world veterinary practice
• Illuminating careers – showcasing different career pathways and essential skills
• Raising aspirations – giving young people the opportunity to meet inspiring role models

Being a School Ambassador offers valuable professional development opportunities. You'll grow your communication skills and build confidence in public speaking.

The experience is a valuable addition to your CV, demonstrating your commitment to professional development and education.  

Many ambassadors find the role personally rewarding, knowing they're contributing to the future of veterinary nursing.

Your main activities will include:

• Delivering veterinary nursing talks in schools
• Attending careers fairs and educational events
• Creating resources for online careers hubs
• Providing educational resources to teachers and careers advisors

This is a voluntary role and you’ll choose how much you want to be involved.  

Experience working in schools is not necessary because you’ll be given a full induction. The team will also provide you with extensive guidance and resources.

To join, you'll need to be an RCVS registered veterinary nurse or a second-year student veterinary nurse.  

The registration process involves:

• Signing up through MyRCVS
• Completing STEM Ambassador registration
• Undergoing an enhanced DBS check
• Completing an online induction course
