We’re looking for distinguished Fellows to join our Fellowship Science Advisory Panel. Our panel helps shape the future of veterinary science through expert evaluation of research and policy initiatives.
Bring your expertise to the RCVS Fellowship Science Advisory Panel. As a panel member, you'll use your scientific expertise to help us keep veterinary practice at the highest standard. Your knowledge will advance veterinary science and strengthen professional standards. This position is only open to RCVS Fellows.
Essential criteria
To be considered for this role, you must have:
Educational qualifications
- A degree in veterinary science, veterinary medicine, or a related field
- A postgraduate qualification (MSc, PhD, or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline
- Qualifications at Level 7 National Qualifications Framework or above
Professional experience
- Extensive experience in veterinary science or medicine
- A background in scientific research, clinical practice, or academia
- A proven track record of peer-reviewed publications
- Experience reviewing scientific research and applications
Core competencies
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- The ability to work collaboratively in a panel environment
- Proficiency in evaluating scientific methodologies and data
Professional standards
- High levels of integrity and professionalism
- A commitment to confidentiality
- An understanding of evidence-based practice principles
Regulatory knowledge
- An understanding of regulatory frameworks in veterinary science
- Knowledge of professional standards and ethical considerations
- An awareness of current developments in veterinary research
Responsibilities of the role
As a Fellowship Science Advisory Panel member, you'll:
- Assess and evaluate scientific applications, proposals, and research submissions
- Provide expert guidance on scientific methodologies and standards
- Contribute to panel discussions and decision-making processes
- Review and comment on scientific publications and reports
- Support the development of scientific policies and guidelines
- Maintain confidentiality of all panel discussions and materials
- Attend regular panel meetings and participate actively in discussions
