Join the RCVS Public Advisory Group
Are you interested in supporting veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses to deliver high standards of animal health and welfare?
We’re inviting applications from animal owners and keepers - including pet, equine and farm animal owners - to join the RCVS Public Advisory Group (PAG). This is an opportunity to help inform and guide our work as the UK regulator for veterinary professionals.
Application deadline: 5pm on Friday 27 February 2026.
About the Public Advisory Group
The PAG supports our work setting, upholding and advancing the educational, ethical and clinical standards of vets and vet nurses. We carry out this work in the interests of animal health and welfare, as well as public health.
The PAG provides valuable insight into the experiences and views of animal owners and keepers. This helps ensure that the veterinary professions continue to meet the needs of animals and their owners. It also supports our ongoing commitment to improving how we work with and communicate with people who use veterinary services.
How you can get involved
We are looking to create a pool of around 30 PAG members, from which smaller groups will be invited to contribute to specific pieces of work. This may include:
- Helping us understand new or evolving issues
- Piloting surveys and consultations
- Testing online services
- Acting as a sounding board for campaigns and messaging
You would need to be able to attend three to four online meetings per year, read relevant papers in advance, and contribute clearly, courteously and confidently. As some topics may be at an early stage of development, you must be comfortable maintaining confidentiality.
Members are expected to commit to the College’s values of compassion, collaboration, clarity and courage.
Attendance at meetings will be compensated at a rate of £368 per day. This will be pro rata, as meetings will usually be shorter than a full day.
We welcome applications from a wide range of backgrounds and are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.
Please note that the PAG works collaboratively with the College and respects its legal role. It is not a forum for promoting personal or organisational agendas.
