Advanced practitioner status

Advanced Practitioner status recognises expertise in veterinary practice. This page explains what the status means, who is eligible, and how to apply or reapply. It also brings together the latest application and re-application dates, the criteria you need to meet, and guidance on maintaining your status.

What is Advanced Practitioner Status?

  • Advanced professional skills and a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Awareness of their limits and appropriate referral to specialists
  • Active involvement in their subject or species community

You can view the List of RCVS Advanced Practitioners by subject area on Find a Vet.
